How to use the Square Face Generator, step by step
Every control lives on one page: pick parts, set colors, choose a background, preview it at real avatar sizes, then export. No account, no upload, nothing to install.
Quick start
Quick start: one face in 5 steps
The same design at each stage — watch it grow from a preset into a finished icon.
1. Start
Pick a preset, or keep the starter face.
2. Change parts
Swap hair, eyes and skin tone.
3. Add extras
Glasses, hats, clothes, cheeks.
4. Finish
Background, preview, export.
Open the generator
A starter face is already loaded. Everything below happens on the same page — no new screens, no saving to a server.
Pick skin, then parts
Choose one of 8 skin tones, then work through the 12 tabs: bangs, side hair, eyes, brows, nose, mouth, cheeks, glasses, hats, clothes and extras. Tap any part to apply it instantly.
Set colors and background
Tap a swatch or type a custom color for hair, eyes, clothes, blush and accents. Then pick a background: transparent, one of 8 solid colors, or a gradient.
Preview circle and tiny sizes
Switch the preview to Circle to see the avatar crop used by Discord and social apps, then to the 32px test. If details vanish, simplify before you export.
Export, copy or share
Download PNG at 256, 512 or 1024 pixels, or WebP. Copy puts the image on your clipboard; Share Link copies a link that loads this exact design in anyone’s editor.

Pro tips
6 tips for better faces
Small habits that make the difference between a nice icon and one people remember.
Check the circle first
Avatars get cropped to a circle almost everywhere. Preview in Circle mode before you fall in love with a design — the Discord guide shows why.
Test at 32 pixels
The tiny preview shows the member-list size. If the face still reads there, it works everywhere.
Randomize, then refine
Hit Random a few times, keep the face that sparks an idea, then change only one or two parts. It beats starting blank.
Save before you wander
Put a design you like in a save slot before trying wild changes. Slots are free and unlimited do-overs.
Share links beat screenshots
A share link carries the exact design, colors included. Screenshots lose quality and cannot be edited.
Steal from the gallery
Remix a gallery design instead of starting from zero — change the hair color and one accessory to make it yours.
No account.
No upload.
Just make a face.
Quick fixes
Something looks wrong?
No face, only buttons
Hard-refresh the page — or re-paste the code in WordPress and purge cache.
Download does nothing

How-to-use questions
Do I need an account to use the Square Face Generator?
No. The generator is free and needs no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser and your designs stay on your own device.
What sizes can I export?
PNG at 256, 512 or 1024 pixels, plus WebP. For profile pictures, 512 pixels is the recommended size.
Can I use my square face commercially?
Yes, within the rules on the commercial use page. Personal use is always free, and most small commercial uses are covered too.
Why did my download save as WebP instead of PNG?
You picked the WebP export option, or your browser saved the copied image in its own format. Choose PNG in the export menu for a PNG file.
Can someone else edit a design I share with them?
Yes. A share link loads your exact design into their editor, and they can change anything and export their own version. Your saved slots are not affected.
My design disappeared after I closed the tab. Can I get it back?
Only if you saved it in one of the 6 save slots or copied a share link first. Designs left only in the editor are not stored after the tab closes, so save or share anything you want to keep.
Now you know it — go make one
Free forever, no sign-up, nothing uploaded. Your first face is about two minutes away.
